Home Diary

I had written Home almost immediately after writing "Wish I Could Be Your Girl", a year and a half ago. It felt like the natural next step and chapter into this world I was building sonically and lyrically, even though at the time I had no inclination that I would have the privilege of recording a full length EP that would further delve into these stories. Growing up in LA, I moved around constantly, and found it very difficult to establish a clear sense of Home. I learned quickly that Home was much more than a physical place, but more the idea of familiarity, safety. I think Home can be found in other people, which I found in my relationship quite quickly, which made the thought of losing my partner that much more terrifying.

"Home" was written during a time where I was entrenched in self-sabotage, and convinced myself that the person who made me feel most at home couldn't possibly be there the way I needed. On the surface, the lyrics read as an ode to change in relationships, or trying to pull away from somebody as a relationship dies. However, if you look closer, it is really about trying to navigate the fears of needing somebody, and convincing yourself it would be better to leave than to be left. This song is incredibly special to me sonically and lyrically, and I am in debt to Jesse Munsat (producer) who made it one of the most beautiful songs on my EP.”
